As the use of consumer IoT devices in the home and on-the-go, such as wearables like connected headphones or fitness devices, continue to grow, more and more data is being pushed to the cloud, where the latest IoT and machine learning (ML) technologies are enabling new innovations in connected home applications. Many consumer devices must act on data generated locally in order to respond quickly to events, while still using the cloud for management, analytics, and storage. High-performance edge applications rely on the cloud for processing, analytics, storage, and machine learning, but also need to do some processing, like ML inference, close to where data is generated to deliver intelligent real-time responsiveness, and reduce the amount of data transferred. This tech talk provides an overview of AWS IoT edge services, FreeRTOS, and AWS IoT Greengrass, that consumer device manufacturers can use to build, deploy, and manage devices that they can control and operate at the edge.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn about key consumer IoT at the edge use cases, and which use cases are best for your respective AWS IoT edge services
  • Learn how AWS customer, Edn, built and manages a connected indoor smart garden with FreeRTOS and AWS IoT services
  • Understand how you can quickly and easily get started with AWS IoT edge services

Who Should Attend?

Consumer Device Manufacturers, Consumer Electronics Manufacturers, Consumer IoT Solution Providers

Speakers

  • Neel Mitra, Prin. Solutions Architect, IoT, AWS
  • Aaron Schram, Ph.D., CTO, Edn
