Case study highlight

We now have everything that we need to operate fully remotely...all our systems are much more secure from a cybersecurity perspective," says Dr. Mable Moore, vice president of technology administration and CIO, Xavier University of Louisiana. "We continue to learn more about the advantages of the cloud and are looking at other opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency."

About the case study

When Dr. Mable Moore joined Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) in 2019, she saw opportunities to improve the IT infrastructure and modernize and secure the university. XULA is vulnerable to hurricanes, leaving the university and servers vulnerable to a shutdown in the event of power outage.

The university has also been victim to a series of cybersecurity incidents. These factors, among others, led Dr. Mable Moore to collaborate with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and partner, Strata Information Group (SIG), to help migrate critical applications to the AWS Cloud.

Now, instead of maintaining local servers, her staff is able to focus on customer service, support, training, and other priorities, plus contribute to the overall mission of the university.
