AWS Well-Architected Day | London

Security Jam

9 May | ICC, ExCeL London

Join us for a day long jam. We will provide the beat and the incident response scenarios where you can learn new skills and practice current ones against a set of simulated security incidents. Can you identify what caused the blues? What would you do differently? How can you architect multiple AWS services to prevent it from happening again? How do you automate the incident response? Take part in our jam to find out!If you get excited about securing your stuff, challenge your skillset while learning some new techniques. The AWS security community will be on-hand to help you complete a series of incident response simulations and to build native cloud solutions. This is the opportunity to leverage a wide range of AWS services with a focus on performing incident investigation and recovery. As the challenges develop, you will take the initial infrastructure, and challenge by challenge, improve it into a resilient and secure deployment. Use your knowledge of AWS services and information security to perform incident response in the cloud and forensic analysis to find out whodunit! We will have a number of experienced AWS experts in the room that will be available to discuss ideas, provide guidance and in general help your team get through any roadblocks that pop up.New to AWS? New to security? Come and join us! Our activities are structured to accommodate AWS users of all levels. We have AWS experts, plus guided exercises, that will ramp up your security knowledge. Put your skills and creativity to the test by producing innovative solutions for a secure deployment.

Well-Architected: Reliability Instructor Led Lab

This hands-on, instructor-led lab will guide you through the steps to perform basic resiliency testing of a simple web application. You will use the AWS Management Console to understand how to view what has been created, and what the effect of your testing is. This lab will also help you understand how to use the AWS command line interface. The skills learned will help provide you the ability to start a resiliency test repository for chaos engineering.

NOTE: Please ensure that you bring your own device with your own non-production AWS account with permissions to run CloudFormation, and be able to create VPCs, 3 EIPs, NAT Gateways, RDS, IAM EC2 Role, Auto Scaling Groups, EC2, ELB to participate in this Instructor-Led lab.

Well-Architected: Security Instructor Led Lab

This hands-on, instructor led lab will guide you through the introductory steps to configure identity & access management and protecting an EC2 workload from network based attacks. You will use the AWS Management Console and AWS CloudFormation to understand how to automate the configuration of a new AWS account with IAM best practices. This lab will also help you understand how to secure an EC2 based web application with defense in depth methods. Skills learned will help you secure your own AWS accounts and workloads.

NOTE: Please ensure that you bring your own device for console access with your own non-production AWS account to participate in this instructor-led lab. Basic understanding of the AWS CloudFormation service is recommended.

Well-Architected: Operational Excellence Instructor Led Lab

This hands-on, instructor-led lab will use the AWS Management Console to deploy a new workload, and set up estate and patch management. In this lab we will demonstrate the importance of tagging and the ways in which it can support you operations activities. You will leverage the benefits of infrastructure as code for development and deployment of your environment. You will also perform Operations as Code to gain insights to your workload status, and to maintain your environment.

NOTE: Please ensure that you bring your own device for console access with your own non-production AWS account to participate in this instructor-led lab.

Well-Architected: Cost Optimization Instructor Led Lab

This hands-on, instructor led lab will guide you through cost optimization for an organization, as it evolves from a single small account through to a large scale organization.  You will use the built in cost management tools within the console, then utilize other AWS services to provide deep analysis and answers at scale.  It will also demonstrate how to setup account structures and permissions to facilitate organization wide optimization.

NOTE: Please ensure that you bring your own device as you will be working with the AWS console.  You will also need to connect to a Redshift cluster, so please have software loaded such as Aginity Workbench or SQL Workbench, and you have tested you can connect to a cluster.
