Amazon Aurora was created in response to customer demand for enterprise-grade, cost-effective relational database technology optimized for the cloud. The original MySQL-compatible edition was first announced in November 2014, and became the fastest-growing product in AWS history. We've recently announced PostgreSQL compatibility at the request of our customers.
