Smart, connected products are changing the competitive landscape across almost all industries, but connected product development invariably comes with numerous security and connectivity challenges, especially when dealing with constrained microcontroller-based devices. In this session, we’ll demonstrate how to get started with Amazon FreeRTOS, an IoT operating system for microcontrollers that makes small, low-power edge devices easy to program, deploy, secure, connect, and manage. Amazon FreeRTOS is based on the FreeRTOS kernel, a popular open source operating system for microcontrollers, and extends it with software libraries that make it easy to securely connect those devices to cloud services or to more powerful edge devices and gateways running AWS Greengrass.

Learning Objectives:
• Configure and download Amazon FreeRTOS on supported hardware to quickly develop a POC
• Deploy a connected product running Amazon FreeRTOS and connect to AWS cloud services
• Connect a device running Amazon FreeRTOS to a local AWS Greengrass Core device

Suited For: Technical Decision Makers, IT Leaders, IT Developers, Software Developers, Engineers

Speaker(s): Rob Cochran, Sr. Product Manager, AWS; Dan Griffin, Software Development Engineer, AWS
