Join us at Underrepresented in Tech to discuss strengthening underrepresented communities in the tech workforce and ideas to improve the racial digital divide. Engage with our group of expert panelists to examine the challenges that may arise in tech for persons from Black or Latinx communities while discussing tactics and resources available to navigate barriers to career entry and growth.

You will also have an opportunity to build your skills with our hands-on AWS cloud workshop, as well as connect with seasoned and emerging tech professionals and recruiters. Don’t forget that laptop. All who are interested in discussing diversity and inclusion in tech are welcome.

If you’re new to AWS you’ll want to join this session where we will discuss the advantages of cloud computing, go over the agenda for the evening, and share why AWS cares about underrepresented communities in tech and is hosting the event. We’ll also outline the hands-on labs, trainings, and other resources available to help you get started with AWS.

5:30PM-6:45PM  |  Panel Discussion – Bridging the Racial Digital Divide
Join our panel of leaders from local DC businesses and organizations for an open discussion on the current tech landscape, opportunities, and challenges for underrepresented communities in tech. The dialogue will explore paths toward achieving a successful career in tech, and how growth in the tech industry is creating opportunities for people of all backgrounds.

6:45PM-8:30PM  |  Cloud Computing Workshop: Hands-On with AWS
This hands-on workshop will dive deeper into the AWS platform and help you get started with some of the core AWS cloud services in minutes. The workshop will include AWS technical resources to help guide you step-by-step through each lab, helping you take the next step and gain a deeper understanding of how programmers can use AWS. Attend as a student to learn more about AWS Educate or attend as a developer for the general session.

Enjoy food & drinks while making new friends and discussing opportunities & challenges in tech. You can share your stories and get mentorship from minority tech industry leaders. Recruiters from AWS and other Amazon business groups in DC will be available from 7:00PM-8:00PM to discuss career opportunities.
