Hear from past participants!

"I failed Year 10 computer studies and after high school I did a little bit of online gaming. Then at university and later in the workforce I learnt basic email, social media, and internet navigation, but that was it. A friend who works in technology heard about my interest in pursuing a career in tech and he told me about the AWS Hāpori Wāhine cloud skills training. With very little technology experience, learning with other kiwi women made me feel part of a community. Having self-paced and online classes were great as well because it is easier to work around my family schedule. I most definitely will be pursuing a career in technology. My goal is to complete my AWS Cloud Practitioner and AWS Solutions Associate exams, continue to build on my training, and then specialise once I've narrowed down what it is I want to do in tech."

"I knew nothing about cloud technology but I thought it would be important for almost all companies and organisations heading into the future. I decided to participate in the AWS Hāpori Wāhine cloud skills training because it is a program designed by women for women, and there are no barriers to entry – no tech background and no cost associated. It was neatly packed into a 4-week program and I was able to learn in person, online, and study in my own time through recorded tutorials or reading materials. The cloud essentials training was useful to learn cloud fundamentals from an in-person trainer, in a classroom environment alongside other women who are learning and have committed to this journey like me. I got a genuine vibe from all the awesome tutors and program coordinators from AWS that they want us all to succeed."
