Contest Terms and Conditions

DESCRIPTION OF CONTEST:

From 8 June 2022 to 10 June 2022, participate in the INNOVATE X ACTION accelerator contest for an opportunity to be awarded with credits to be used in connection with certain AWS services and AWS Professional Services workshops. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. Terms and conditions apply.

Contest Terms and Conditions:

    1. Entering the Contest
      By entering the INNOVATE X ACTION accelerator contest (“Contest”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

      Unless stated otherwise, references in these Terms and Conditions to “you” mean the relevant corporate entity you are submitting an entry on behalf of. Individuals who agree to these Terms and Conditions on behalf of their corporate entity warrant that they have sufficient authority to bind that corporate entity to these Terms and Conditions. Entries by individuals acting in their individual or personal capacities are not eligible.

      You must be invited by Amazon Web Services, Inc. or one of its affiliates to participate in the Contest and participants from your corporate entity must register to attend through following the instructions on the page here. Only participants from your corporate entity that previously submitted an expression of interest and were selected to take part in the Contest are eligible to participate. The team from your corporate entity that participates in the Contest (as defined below) must be made up of at least 3 people, all of which must be employees of your corporate entity.

      You and the participants from your corporate entity must, as a team, attend one of the following sessions of the Contest, which will be run in parallel to one another and require the same tasks to be completed:

      Invites to each of these virtual Sessions will be sent to you via email to the email address provided when registering for the Contest. The invite will contain details about your Session, including the dates and times of each activity and presentation and instructions on how to virtually join a Session.

    2. Prizes:
      From 8 June 2022 to 10 June 2022 (“Contest Period”), you and the other participants from your corporate entity must attend all three days of the relevant Session of the Contest, which will be delivered virtually, and complete all of the required tasks and submissions as a team, for an opportunity for your corporate entity to win:

      Major Prize
      One AWS Prototype build by AWS Prototyping team. The Prototyping team will build a working prototype of a specific customer use case, leveraging their existing data, devices, and systems. Prototyping engagement will be timebound to a maximum of 6 weeks. Correspondingly, the team will build to a constrained scope. Prototypes are not production-level solutions, but rather, enablement tools to demonstrate the “art of the possible”, catalyze innovation, and influence decision making. The Prototyping engagement will consist of: 1) Problem Workshop with customer stakeholders, a deep dive on customer business priorities and challenges, and technology concerns/risks. There is not a required min/max participants, but it is recommended to have a mix of product, tech and business POCs attending the workshop. The outcome of this workshop is to get an understanding of the outcomes the engagement will help achieve, what good looks like and success measures.2) Prototyping Build: the AWS team will build a working prototype of a honed-in innovation use case in 6 weeks from kick off, leveraging customer’s existing data, devices and systems. The outcome of this phase is to de-risk technical uncertainties, resulting in accelerated time to market.
      • Three months free AWS platform usage (capped at US$25,000).
      • One AWS Skills Guild Introductory Workshop for Executives, a 4-hour workshop designed to take up to 10 executive participants through an overview of cloud skilling to drive organizational-wide transformation and a hands-on workshop to design an approach, key milestones, requirements and resources to get their cloud transformation skilling started.       • One AWS DevAx::academy Monoliths to Microservices session. The DevAx::academy Monoliths to Microservices is developer-focused enablement from the AWS Developer Acceleration (DevAx) team, that covers the fundamental patterns and practices of designing distributed systems, such as microservices architectures. It helps developers think about how to modernise their application architecture, breaking down traditional, monolithic structures into modern, loosely-coupled components, and with the assistance of hands-on labs, demonstrates how to implement the Strangler pattern for application modernisation, on AWS. This is a full-day session with theory presentation and workshops, suitable for developers who need to acquire the skills for modernising a monolithic application. Winners will receive an exclusive session with a DevAx Developer Specialist Solutions Architect for up to 15 attendees, which will allow them to ask specific questions and get advice from DevAx about their particular use case; runners-up will be invited to a general session with attendees from multiple organisations, up to 5 attendees per organisation.
      • One Solution Workshop (ProServe Innovation Advisory), a series of interactive workshops where AWS will help Customer create a build plan by deconstructing ideation work into actionable build tasks and validation experiments. Duration: 2 weeks based on customer availability, Up to 6.5 hrs of customer working sessions. Workshop 1: Storyboard Mapping (4 hrs): Map experiences to features, assumptions, & risks. Workshop 2: Prioritization (90 mins): Prioritize features & risks against business objectives. Workshop 3: Experiment Planning (60 mins): Deconstruct risks into hypothesis and test plans.

      Runner Up Prize

      • One Pulse Check engagement (from ProServe Innovation Advisory), A lightweight innovation assessment based on Amazon's Culture, Mechanisms, Organisation, and Architecture. It identifies customers' blockers to innovation, and provides a roadmap of improvements to kickstart the change in days, not months. Duration: 2 weeks based on customer availability. Key deliverables are 1/ a high level assessment and playback to exec team, and 2/ a roadmap that we co-create with customer, to addressing most important challenges/opportunities, and start building their long-term innovation capability.

      (a “Minor Prize”). 

      Prizes will be awarded directly to the corporate entity that entered the Contest.  Prizes will be subject to additional terms and conditions including mutual agreement between the corporate entity regarding the timing of accepting a prize, the AWS Entity having sufficient resources at the time is being renewed and , and where applicable governed by the relevant terms and conditions found here

      Subject to these Terms and Conditions, it will be the corporate entity that selects which of its employees are involved in taking part in a prize that involves attending a workshop, program or other form of engagement. There is no limit to the number of employees from the corporate entity you represent that can attend a single workshop, program or other form of engagement awarded as a prize. 

      Workshops are subject to availability and must be booked within this year (2022) of receiving the prize.

      To qualify for the Contest, you must attend all three days of the relevant Session of the Contest, participate in all the activities and complete and submit the “working backwards sprint” on day 3 of the Contest as per the instructions provided during the Contest.  

    3. Eligibility and AWS contracting party
      Each team member must be at least 18 years of age, be employed by your corporate entity at the time of participating in the Contest and live in either Australia or New Zealand for the ANZ Session; Japan for the Japanese Session; South Korea for the Korean Session; India for the Indian Session; or Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand for the ASEAN session.  Excludes individuals from any other countries. 

      Your enter into these Terms and Conditions with the following Amazon Web Services entities:

      For participants from your corporate entity that reside in Amazon Web Services entity (an “AWS Entity”)
      Australia or New Zealand (ANZ Session) Amazon Web Services Australia Pty Ltd
      Japan (Japanese Session) Amazon Web Services Japan G.K.
      South Korea (Korean Session) Amazon Web Services Korea LLC
      India (Indian Session) Amazon Internet Services Private Limited (“AISPL”)
      Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore or Thailand (ASEAN Session) Amazon Web Services Singapore Pte Ltd

      Employees of any of the AWS entities mentioned above, and their immediate family members and members of their households are not eligible to participate.

    4. Judging Criteria
      A panel of judges from an AWS Entity will be appointed to judge all entries.  All eligible entries received during the Contest Period will be evaluated and the winners will be selected, based on the following criteria
        • The corporate entity whose team submits the “working backwards sprint” submission from each Session that was the highest quality submission for that Session, based on the criteria that needed to be addressed as outlined on day 3 of the Contest, will be awarded one Major Prize; and
        • The corporation entity whose team submits the “working backwards sprint” submissions from each Session that were the second and third highest quality submissions for that Session, based on the criteria that needed to be addressed as outlined on day 3 of the Contest, will each be awarded a Minor Prize.

      For the avoidance of doubt, one Major Prize and two Minor Prizes will be awarded for each Session.  A maximum of five Major Prizes and ten Minor Prizes will be awarded in total. 

      Prizes will be awarded by the AWS Entity that you enter into these Terms and Conditions with (“Relevant AWS Entity”), as per the table above.

    5. Miscellaneous
      Entries that do not meet the requirements set forth in these Terms and Conditions may be disqualified in the Relevant AWS Entity’s sole discretion.  Winners will be selected by 15 June 2022.  AWS Promotional Credits are subject to the terms and conditions set forth at https://aws.amazon.com/awscredits/.  AWS Promotional Credits have no monetary value.  In India, AWS credits issued to the winner can only be used only against the AISPL account of the winner.    The Relevant AWS Entity reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) for an item of comparable or greater value, at the Relevant AWS Entity’s sole discretion.

      If you are selected as a potential winner of the Contest, the Relevant AWS Entity will contact you on the email address [insert].  The prize, or a voucher to accept the prize, will be emailed to the company email address provided by the participants that represented your corporate entity by 30 June 2022.  Failure to provide the requested information or to respond to communications about the Contest within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Relevant AWS Entity in its sole discretion, may result in the forfeiture of the prize.

      By accepting the prize, you confirm that your receipt is neither prohibited nor inconsistent with any applicable laws, regulations, or binding orders, including applicable ethics or procurement rules, your receipt will not create a conflict of interest for the Relevant AWS Entity, and there are no ongoing competitive procurements for which your receipt of this benefit could conflict the Relevant AWS Entity from participating in the competition.

      The following personal information of your employees involved in the Contest will be collected by the Relevant AWS Entity for the Contest solely for the purposes of administering the Contest and verifying participant eligibility: [name, city, state or province, country, company they work for].  Failure to provide all necessary personal information may result in participants’ participation in the Contest being deemed ineligible. The Relevant AWS Entity handles your information in accordance with AWS Privacy Notice.

      You will be responsible, as required under applicable law, for identifying, filing and paying all taxes and other governmental fees and charges (and any penalties, interest, and other additions thereto) that may be imposed on you with respect to the transactions under this Terms and Conditions.  The Relevant AWS Entity may deduct or withhold any taxes that the AWS Entity may be legally obligated to deduct or withhold from any prizes awarded to you under this Terms and Conditions, and prizes awarded to you as reduced by such deductions or withholdings will constitute full award of prizes to you under this Terms and Conditions. Throughout the term of this Contest and for a reasonable period after the award of prizes, you will provide the Relevant AWS entity with any forms, documents, or certifications as may be required for the Relevant AWS Entity to satisfy any information reporting or withholding tax obligations with respect to the prizes awarded under this agreement.

      [A winners list will be available at https://awsinnovatexaction.com/ for up to a year after June 2022]  Acceptance of prize by the winner constitutes permission for the Relevant AWS Entity to use winners’ names or likenesses, and city, state or province, and country, if submitted to the Relevant AWS Entity, for any disclosures required by law, including a winners list, and for advertising and promotional purposes relating to the Contest in any and all media now or hereafter devised, worldwide in perpetuity (or to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law), without additional compensation, notification or permission, unless prohibited by law.

      By submitting your submission to the Contest, you represent and warrant that your submission does not: (i) perform or promote activities that are illegal; (ii) violate or infringe the intellectual property, proprietary, or other rights of others; (iii) perform or promote activities that are offensive or disparaging in any manner; or (iv) cause harm to others or to the Relevant AWS Entity’s operations or reputation.

      The Contest is sponsored by the AWS Entity you enter into these Terms and Conditions with.  The Relevant AWS Entity reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest at any time and for any reason. The Relevant AWS Entity and its affiliates and licensors will not be liable to you under any cause of action or theory of liability relating to the Contest, even if a party has been advised of the possibility of such damages, for (a) indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or (b) lost profits, revenues, customers, opportunities, or goodwill. In any case, AWS and its affiliates’ and licensors’ aggregate liability under these Terms and Conditions will not exceed USD $100. The limitations in this paragraph shall apply only to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
