Rethinking digital simulations

Digital simulations present a unique challenge, one the physical world is incapable of overcoming—every time resolution is doubled, the required computing power rises by a factor of eight. This leads to simulations that can take days to complete, ultimately forcing Autodesk customers to accept the first result that works rather than searching for the optimal solution.

Generating a new model

Autodesk now relies on AWS to power a new model for simulations called “generative design,” which allows the company and its customers to run simulations exponentially faster. The technology also incorporates intelligence from the AWS Cloud, enabling the system to think for itself and create thousands of design options with relatively little input.

Accelerating computer-aided design

Autodesk runs simulations that mimic evolution. Cloud-connected devices have become design partners, able to achieve the real-world equivalent of millions of years of evolution in a single afternoon. Thanks to AWS, Autodesk customers are designing a more optimized future, creating products that overcome environmental, social, economic, and resource constraints.
