Speakers
Dr Julie White
Executive Director, Office of Research and Innovation, Clinical Planning and Service Strategy Division, Queensland HealthDr Julie White holds the position of Executive Director, Office of Research and Innovation in the Clinical Planning and Service Strategy Division of Queensland Health.
Dr White is responsible for matching Queensland research capabilities – in hospitals, universities, research institutes and businesses – with partners, and translating research into improved health outcomes for patients.
Dr White leads the strategic direction of medical
research, including ethics and governance for clinical trials, at all Queensland public hospitals.
She oversees the Australian Teletrial Program which is making clinical trials more accessible for patients in remote regions of Australia.
Prior to joining Queensland Health, Dr White was the Director of Health, Research and Enterprise Development at Deakin University.
She has held Chief Executive roles at companies and research centres in Australia and Europe.
Dr White holds a PhD in Psychopharmacology from Kings College (London).
Sue McCarthy
Clinical Innovation Lead, APJ, Amazon Web Services (AWS)Sue is a proud clinician and she feels strongly about arming healthcare professionals with the appropriate technology to achieve exemplar patient care.
She is a strong advocate for making informed choices about care, outcomes and having the right digital tools to provide access to appropriate information.
Her interests extend to how the changing environment will impact healthcare and how prepared we are for future healthcare emergencies.
Sue has over 20 years of commercial experience in digital health and health informatics within the APAC region, whilst also maintaining her registration with AHPRA.
She was part of the surge register to assist with the workforce shortage during the pandemic.
Her background includes engagements in health informatics, digital health, acute and aged care in the public, private and NFP sectors.
Sue holds a Bachelor of Nursing and a Graduate Certificate in Business and is a Member of the Australian College of Nursing and the Australian Institute of Digital Health.
She sits on a number advisory panels in health including the AWS Global Health Equity Program and is a mentor for She Builds Mentorship Program – an AWS initiative to challenge, inspire, motivate and empower women who want to enter the technology field.
George Patapis
Healthcare Alliances Leader, APAC, Amazon Web Services (AWS)George is a Healthcare industry leader for AWS.
George focuses on assisting customers drive digital health initiatives at scale, that help improve population health outcomes, improve clinician and patient experience and reduce costs.
This is achieved by leveraging key AWS HealthTechs including Healthcare System Integrators, Independent Software Vendors and innovative healthcare technology Startups.
George has over 20 years of experience working with Government, Not For Profit and private organisations in the healthcare sector across Australia and New Zealand.
George has a commercial background in Primary Care, Population Health programs, Digital Health innovations, Cloud and Cyber-security in Healthcare settings.
George holds a Master of Commerce in International Business from the University of NSW and a Bachelor of Science with Honours, majoring in Computer Science from Macquarie University, Sydney.
George is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
