MECCA Increases Customer Engagement and Email Conversions by 65% with AWS and Servian

The use of advanced analytics to deliver business insights, understand customers, and increase sales is a key goal for many organisations.

For cosmetic retailer MECCA, an important strategy was to increase engagement by providing personalisation to customers, primarily through digital channels. Initially MECCA implemented product recommendations using native capabilities from within its email management system. After these “one-size-fits-all" solutions proved ineffective, the company approached Servian for a more advanced and nuanced proposal.

Leveraging solutions from Amazon Web Services (AWS), such as Amazon Personalize and Amazon SageMaker, Servian achieved deep personalisation of MECCA's customer emails. Using product recommendations across MECCA's entire catalogue, as well as a long short-term memory (LSTM) propensity model to identify the best timing for product replenishment, MECCA saw email click-through rates increase by 65 percent.
