  • Steve MorganChief Analytics Architect, Enterprise Operations, Chief Data & Analytics Office, Lockheed Martin

Throughout my career I have been in technical leadership roles and delivered successful projects with millions of dollars in value, specifically seeking out the most challenging and valuable projects. Beginning as a software engineer, I held responsibilities over multiple applications on the SAP ERP Procure-to-Pay program. I was given my first opportunity to lead a million-dollar project focused on improving the user experience of the Materials and Cost Estimating module. The 10-month project was completed on time, with resounding enthusiasm from the user community.

After completing the Advanced Technical Leadership Program, certification in Agile methodologies, obtaining my master’s with emphasis in machine learning, and experience in developing executive dashboards, I moved into the newly formed Analytics Center of Excellence. Within two years, I developed the business case, architecture, and initial teams for Collibra, Brainspace, Domino, and the cloud native Enterprise Data Lake. These four services including Data Virtualization and Tableau were all initially offered as enterprise services as the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Platform. Subsequently, I was named the Chief Architect. In 2018, I was given the highest technical award in Corporate Engineering and Technology at Lockheed Martin because of my efforts on EIM. EIM became the backbone of our enterprise data organization, which has been awarded over $20 million in funding through Digital Transformation to date. Today, use cases specific to each business area and enterprise programs across HR, manufacturing, and supply chain depend heavily upon the analytics stack I helped start 4 years ago. I have had direct involvement with many projects within the Data Refinery, and total have estimated savings of over $15 million dollars annually, with growth expected. I am particularly proud of my efforts on IIoT. We have developed a product which allows machine learning to be scaled to any machine, using real-time data from the factory floor. New models will be deployed to production in hours and has already resulted in direct savings to our customers.

I am beginning a new role, Chief Analytics Architect, responsible for aligning our current business systems with our future analytics capabilities. The scope and potential impact are bigger than any other opportunity I have had within my career. I fully expect to exceed expectations in this effort as well.
