Hundreds of thousands of AWS customers use Amazon RDS to automate database administrative tasks, reducing operational overhead and saving time so they can focus on their applications. Amazon RDS on VMware, now in preview, brings this same experience to VMware private data centers, allowing you to deploy RDS managed databases in on-premises and hybrid environments. This tech talk will explain how Amazon RDS on VMware can be used to automate on-premises database administration, enable hybrid cloud backups and read scaling for on-premises databases, and simplify database migration to AWS. The tech talk will provide a look under the hood at how RDS on VMware works, will overview the chief use cases for RDS on VMware, and will include a quick demonstration of provisioning RDS database instances in a VMware vSphere cluster.
