Level: 200

AWS AppSync enables users to connect their applications and services to multiple data sources and events with serverless GraphQL and Pub/Sub APIs. When exposing multiple microservices through a single GraphQL API endpoint, different teams within an organization have to work simultaneously in the same API. Multiple developer teams working on the same API without proper isolation and guardrails can lead to accidental breaking changes. AWS AppSync now offers Merged APIs that enable federated, cross-team API development by giving developer teams the ability to merge AppSync APIs owned and managed by independent teams into a single organization-wide GraphQL API. This enables cross-team collaboration, while also allowing the teams to operate independently. In this tech talk, we will introduce AWS AppSync, mention challenges with large teams sharing development of a single GraphQL API and working concurrently in the same API. Next, we’ll introduce the new Merged APIs feature and illustrate how to create a Merged API with a demo.
