About the Deepracer Competition

The AWS 'Deepracer' competition pits teams of developers, engineers and architects against each other in a test of programming, machine learning and artificial intelligence skills. The goal? To program a car to drive around the track as fast as it can.

AWS DeepRacer gives you an interesting and fun way to get started with reinforcement learning (RL). Its super power is that it learns very complex behaviors without requiring any labeled training data, and can make short term decisions while optimizing for a longer term goal.

Team-based Competition

The three fastest teams of the morning and the fastest teams of the afternoon will win their own, custom AWS hoodie that shows that they were the fastest around the Deepracer track.

As the Deepracer is a team-based competition of 3-4 participants per team, we recommend everyone to find the other team members first. After that, each competitor should register individually, but use the exact same team name when registering. We would hate to have you to get confused with your competition.

If you are not part of a team or can't find enough team members, please register only yourself and leave the team name blank. Our partners Luminis and CloudNation will form teams of individual competitors with blank team names.

Again, Cloudnation will run the morning session from 09:30 to 12:30, whilst Luminis will run the afternoon session from 14:00 to 17:00.

Deepracer participants are required to bring their own laptops (min one laptop per team, if you register as an individual always bring your laptop).

  • Everyone needs to register by themselves
  • The teamname needs to be the same
  • 3-4 participants per team
  • Every participant needs to bring their own laptop

Learning Objectives

  • With your team of developers, engineers and architects, compete in a Deepracer competition to see who can program their car to go around the track the fastest. This competition will teach you and your colleagues valuable programming and AI/ML skills in a fun and competitive way.
  • Want to try something else? Then sit behind the wheel of a race simulator to challenge the times of other contenders and see how you can improve your own times around the lap.

Who Should Attend

  • Developers
  • Engineers
  • Architects
  • Racing fans
  • People who want to challenge themselves!
