Most modern application development today includes developing serverless applications. Customers are increasingly building multi-faceted applications with capabilities such as machine learning included. While there are multiple editors and IDEs that our customers use, Visual Studio Code has been the editor of choice. In this tech talk, we will use the AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio Code which makes it easy to build, debug and deploy serverless applications. We will demonstrate how easy it is to get started and create a working application in less than 20 minutes. As a bonus, we will use one of our ML APIs, Amazon Comprehend, and use the AWS SDK for Python to hit it from our serverless app.

Learning Objectives
- See a live demo on how to create a new, ready-to-deploy serverless application
- Learn how to locally test your code with step-through debugging in a Lambda-like execution environment
- Learn how to use Amazon Comprehend and use the AWS SDK for Python to hit it from our serverless app
