Capturing and monitoring traffic on EC2 instances requires the deployment and maintenance of third-party agents in your Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC). This is often complex, expensive, and can significantly reduce your network performance. Amazon VPC traffic mirroring now allows you to monitor your Amazon VPC traffic by copying the ingress and egress network packets for further analysis or record keeping. You can capture the traffic on AWS managed services such as NAT Gateways, or Elastic Load Balancer, among others, and use multiple security tools to analyze that traffic. We will present the benefits of traffic replication, follow a demonstration of how to easily deploy this feature, and explore monitoring and security scenarios to take advantage of this new feature.

Learning Objectives
